This Kawai GE-1A is a piano we’ve cared for and maintained for years, and we can vouch for it with confidence. It plays beautifully, sounds beautiful, and looks beautiful.

We’ve given this piano the full treatment: key bushings rejuvenated, action regulated, hammers voiced, the entire piano cleaned, and the satin ebony finish touched up. It also comes equipped with a Dampp-Chaser Piano Life Saver humidity control system and under cover (a $1,375 value) already installed and ready to protect your investment from day one. Humidity control is one of the single best things you can do for the longevity and stability of a piano, and this one has it built in.

The tone is what stands out first. It leans darker and warmer than what you’d find in a typical Yamaha of similar size—sweet and singing at softer dynamics, with brightness that only emerges at fortissimo. This makes it remarkably versatile and easy to listen to in a smaller room, where a brighter piano can become fatiguing.

The touch is dialed in to a satisfying those desiring a medium-firm weight: light enough to keep your fingers fresh through fast passages, but heavy enough to offer real dynamic control. It’s an expressive piano and very fun to play.

The rubbed satin ebony finish is stately but understated, a look that complements a nice home without drawing attention away from the room.
